Freshman Year

Hi, it’s Emma. It is currently March 28, 2020 and freshman year is coming to a close. My family and I are in quarantine. Let me back up… freshman year started off great. I made so many new friends and continued volleyball. As the year went on the harder it got. My friendships started to fade and my grades dropped dramatically. What started off as a great year turned into a really hard life lesson. Everyday seemed to pass and go so quickly. Second semester rolled around and everything just hit me so fast. I’m growing up and I feel like I am missing the best parts. Around the end of January and beginning of February a virus from China (COVID-19) made it’s way into the U.S. Nobody really took any of it seriously until the death toll raised dramatically. Now, the shelves of super markets are empty and deserted. All businesses are closed and everyone is in isolation. Things used to be so easy and hanging out with friends was a matter of when and where. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. Philippians 4:6–7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Through all the fear, doubt, and confusion, remember that we have a God who loves us. This was short but the year went by so fast. Sadly, I’m sure coronavirus will be one of the only tings I remember about my freshman year, but hopefully in the end we can all take away the fact that we take everyday with friends and family for granted.
